The Community Data Consortium is growing our Community Data Inventory to help you find databases that yield information at the community or neighbourhood level. This inventory points you to Canadian as well as some international initiatives that collect data or develop indicators at sub-municipal, neighbourhood, or health district scales.

The more you can help us grow this inventory, the more up to date and robust it will become. Please point us (information@communitydata-donneescommunautaires.ca) to your favorite datasets, and we will include them here for others to find.

The Community Data Inventory originally started as a research project funded by HRSDC. You can read the original report here (inventory.pdf). Due to the cuts to the Long-Form Census, it was considered critical to expand this resource to point you to other datasets, keeping in mind that nothing replaces the Census. Finally, the proliferation of Open Data cities in Canada is another good reason to start pointing community-data users to new data assets becoming available to them.
